NEUF at the Roundtable: Biodiversity and the Built Environment

On June 11, in celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity, Fannie St-Gelais, Director of Sustainability, co-hosted a dynamic roundtable discussion on the role of the built environment in preserving biodiversity. Organized by Bâtiment durable Québec, the event took place at Alvéole’s offices in Montreal — a symbolic venue featuring a green rooftop terrace and urban beehives.

The roundtable brought together four experts from the fields of architecture, planning, and research: Jean-Olivier Goyette (CRABE – UQO), Manuel R. Cisneros (Sid Lee Architecture), Michel Rousseau (Rousseau-Lefebvre), and Éric Duchemin (Laboratoire sur l’agriculture urbaine – UQAM).

This inspiring conversation offered a valuable opportunity to bridge perspectives between researchers, practitioners, and institutional players and to collectively explore tangible ways of integrating biodiversity at the heart of urban projects.
