Amélio School

Amélio School

Sans titre - 1

Located inside the converted monastery of the Recluses missionaries in St-Jérôme, the Amélio School commissioned NEUF with the renovation of this 1957 building to welcome the first students of the Amelio education method.

Completed (2018)

Being the first campus in Quebec, the building had to be adapted to this innovative educational approach, which prioritizes learning through play.
The renovation redeveloped the interior surfaces with a playful and colorful character to stimulate children’s creativity, while the new spatial arrangement encourages free movement and collaborative work.

Reorganizing all activities around a large, central practice space — an experimental laboratory for the young team of teachers — made it possible to integrate classrooms, administration offices, a cafeteria, and an early childhood center.
